ACCG Comments on Upcoming CPAC deliberation

MOU extension to be considered by CPAC

By Wayne G. Sayles |
April 22, 2013

The Cultural Property Advisory Committee, an adjunct of the Cultural Heritage Center of the U.S. State Department will meet in Washington on May 14-17 to consider a proposed extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. and China that imposes import restrictions on certain classes of ancient coins and other artifacts.  Comments at Regulations.gov are accepted through April 23rd.  Although the guild does not oppose the governing legislation, nor the MOU itself, ACCG has submitted comments in opposition to the inclusion of coins on the designated list.  The ACCG is involved in an ongoing legal challenge of the current restrictions on a variety of coins of Chinese origin.
