The Ancient Coin Collectors Guild has become a driving force in the ongoing effort to protect coin collectors and museums in which coins are stored from being forced to give up these items to foreign governments under the premise the coins are the cultural patrimony of the claimant nation. — Richard Giedroyc, World Coin News April 26, 2010

Ancient Coin Club of Chicago Supports ACCG

The Ancient Coin Club of Chicago, an active and growing organization, joins the ACCG as its 17th Affiliate Member.

October 28, 2005

The Chicago club is the most recent of an impressive group of independent organizations to express their solidarity with the ACCG in this way. The ACCC was founded by Chicago area coin collectors in 2001. The club started with 10 people meeting at a restaurant. The Ancient Coin Club of Chicago now has about 30 members with such noted numismatists and coin dealers as Harlan Berk, Curtis Clay, Phil Davis, Mark Wieclaw and John Vander Weit.

Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of every month at 77 W. Washington in the Chicago Temple Building, in the Offices and Research Library of Harlan J. Berk Ltd. This is on the 13th floor, room 1320. Members gather for dinner at 6:00 PM, and a moderated group discussion starts afterwards. Topics of discussion at past meetings have ranged from coinage of the Greek and Roman worlds to that of the survivors of Rome and the non-classical cultures of the ancient world.

Current contact and meeting information is available on the ACCC web site at:
