The Association of Dedicated Byzantine Collectors (ADBC) has become the 18th independent organization of ancient coin collectors to formally support ACCG's efforts.
The ADBC was formed in 1991 by Chris Connell, Larry Gaye and Prue Morgan Fitz who used to meet at shows - wherever there was a corner - to share their Byzantine treasures from year to year. Chris and Prue made it official. ADBC is a rapidly growing group of people who are interested in Byzantine coins and Byzantine history. The group meets at least twice a year at the New York International Show in January and the ANA summer Convention and often at other major shows. Many of the most important names in Byzantine numismatics are members of the group, buit the only requirement to join is an interest in learning and sharing the fascinating history of the Romaioi: the Roman Empire in the East.
The ADBC is a member club of the American Numismatic Association. Annual dues are $5 a year. Meetings are centered around a program which presents an aspect of Byzantine Numismatics and an opportunity for members to share their appreciation of Byzantine coins.
Prue Fitts currently serves as "Empress" and no revolts are planned. Membership enquiries may be sent to her at Box 644, Framingham, MA 01701 or at Thalassa@aol.com. Larry Gaye is "Exarch" (Light.Man@verison.net) and Tom Klunzinger is "Logothete" (firstname.lastname@example.org).
ADBC will meet at the New York International Show on Saturday January 14th at 11. (Please check time and place for changes). The speaker will be Mike Beyeziff, an expert on bronze coinage and iconography on coins.
