The Ancient Coin Collectors Guild has become a driving force in the ongoing effort to protect coin collectors and museums in which coins are stored from being forced to give up these items to foreign governments under the premise the coins are the cultural patrimony of the claimant nation. — Richard Giedroyc, World Coin News April 26, 2010

NJNS Signs On as ACCG Affiliate

Club honors memory of fellow collector.

March 13, 2005

At the October 18th meeting of the New Jersey Numismatic Society, the membership unanimously voted to accept an invitation to join the ACCG as an Affiliate Member. NJNS Secretary, Alan Belkin, reported that it was further moved that the membership be made "in honor of the memory of one of our Society's most dedicated ancient coin collectors", Robert Schonwalter (1915-1998).

The Affiliate Member Program of the ACCG was established for the purpose of providing centralized support to independent clubs with an interest in ancient coinage. It is managed through the Affiliate Member Liaison office staffed by volunteers Chris Connell and David Tranbarger. The long range goal of the program is to facilitate exchange programs, educational packages, regional seminars and cooperative ventures that are beyond the resources of a small club.

The NJNS meets monthly on the third Monday at 7:30 pm at the Madison Public Library, 33 Keep Street, Madison, New Jersey. The club includes members with interests in ancient coins, tokens and/or medals and U.S. coins. For information about joining or visiting the NJNS contact the Secretary, Peter LaConte at NJNS, P.O. Box 1332, Summit, NJ, 07901 or email laconte@optonline.com.
