Oral Argument Before Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals

By Peter K. Tompa |
March 26, 2018

On March 22, 2018, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit entertained oral argument in the long running ancient coin forfeiture case. The Guild, joined by 6 other collector and dealer groups, asked the Court to uphold an important 5th Amendment constitutional principle:  that private property may only be forfeited after the government provides evidence establishing every element of its prima facie case and the private property owner is given a meaningful opportunity for rebuttal.

An audio recording of the oral argument may be found here:  http://coop.ca4.uscourts.gov/OAarchive/mp3/17-1625-20180322.mp3
