The Ancient Coin Collectors Guild has become a driving force in the ongoing effort to protect coin collectors and museums in which coins are stored from being forced to give up these items to foreign governments under the premise the coins are the cultural patrimony of the claimant nation. — Richard Giedroyc, World Coin News April 26, 2010

Zee Ann Poerio, a long time member and supporter of the Ancient Coin Collectors Guild and the Ancient Coins for Education (ACE) organization, has been named as recipient of the National Catholic Educational Association's national leadership development award.   As a teacher at Saint Louise de Marillac School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Zee Ann has been a leading advocate of ancient coins as tactile learning devices.  Over the past decade, she and her students have assembled an impressive Ancient Coin Museum which is displayed at public events with students acting as docents and presenting a variety of live performances.  The ACCG is proud to have contributed to this effort on several occasions.

The NCEA award this year will honor 42 recipients, 12 of which are teachers.  The remainder of the recipients are superintendents, principals, pastors, assistant superintendents, presidents, principals and organizations that are selected from more than 6,500 elementary and secondary schools throughout the nation.  The 12 Teaching Award recipients were selected from more than 150,000 educators at Catholic schools.

The award will be presented at a special awards dinner in April at St. Louis during the NCEA Convention and Expo.  See attached
