The Ancient Coin Collectors Guild has become a driving force in the ongoing effort to protect coin collectors and museums in which coins are stored from being forced to give up these items to foreign governments under the premise the coins are the cultural patrimony of the claimant nation. — Richard Giedroyc, World Coin News April 26, 2010

Third Annual ACCG Benefit Auction in Progress

2010 Benefit Auction now in progress

By Wayne G. Sayles |
September 18, 2010

The Third Annual Benefit Auction in support of the Ancient Coin Collectors Guild is now open for bidding online at www.vauctions.com.  This event has raised more than $80,000 in the past two years, providing a much needed supplement to help fund ACCG legal initiatives.  The 2010 sale consists of 175 lots, primarily of ancient Greek and Roman coinage but including items from other cultures as well.  Other items include jewelry, literature, gift cards, and even an internet domain.  All lots are offered without any buyer's fee.

The objects offered in this sale have been donated by ACCG supporters, both collectors and dealers, whose generosity has aided the guild immensely.  The donors names are included on the VAuction page.  The venue itself has been donated by Bill Puetz, owner of VHobbies.com LLC.  John Lavender donated the resources to photograph, catalogue and post this sale. Those who have not contributed to the sale with donations of material can do so by bidding strongly and frequently in the sale and by spreading the word to others who might participate.  These fund raising efforts are, by necessity, a cooperative venture and the help of all is needed and appreciated.
