The Ancient Coin Museum is used as a teaching tool to discuss the origins of money while incorporating languages through the inscriptions of ancient coins, as well as ancient history, art, myth, and its influence on modern coinage from around the world.
Friday will feature speakers, visits from school students, and informal talks open to the public. Local numismatists will participate and students from neighboring schools will be invited. The event is open to the general public (see the related news item on this site dated March 6, 2005).

Comment from a wide variety of interests was submitted to the Cultural Property Advisory Committee (CPAC) during a 10-day window closing Monday, February 5. The comment period was provided to allow public participation in the State Department consideration of a request by the Republic of Cyprus for import restrictions on cultural property to include coins more than 250 years old.
