ACCG young scholar published in The Numismatist
ACCG member Sam Spiegel, who attended the ANA Summer Seminar in 2006 on an ACCG Scholarship Program, has a major feature article in the November 2009 issue of The Numismatist.
Sam Spiegel a young collector from Brooklyn, NY and member of the ACCG, attended the American Numismatic Association's Summer Seminar in July of 2006 as the recipient of an ACCG scholarship. Shortly after completing a session in ancient coinage at that seminar, Spiegel won first place in the Ancient and Medieval category of exhibits at the ANA convention. Just months later, he was selected as the ANA Young Numismatist of the Year. His feature article "The Athenian Emergency issue of the Peloponnesian War" appeared in the December 2008 issue of The Celator. Following up on these achievements, Sam now has a feature article on Roman Republican Coinage in the November 2009 issue of The Numismatist, the American Numismatic Association's monthly journal. The six-page article titled "Roman Coins in the Second Punic War" is very well researched and profusely illustrated. The use of ancient coins as aids in youth education is an area of continuing interest to the guild and educational programs are supported through the ACCG's Education and Youth Programs Task Force.
Congratulations to Sam on his many accomplishments in this short span of time. We look forward to many good things from him in the future.
